From Reading to Literacy: A Transition to the Common Core State Standards
|
As education initiatives change to meet the needs of students, Really Good Stuff products adapt to help you meet those standards. This fall we are pleased to announce the transition of our Reading catalog to a Literacy catalog. Why the switch and what does it mean for you? The new Literacy catalog was designed to convey our comprehensive focus on the entire spectrum of curriculum objectives. We’ve evolved from emphasizing materials tied to No Child Left Behind to highlighting those aligned with Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English Language Arts, which also include grammar, writing, speaking and listening. Providing more products designed to help you meet and exceed the expectations of your curriculum has always been the focus of Really Good Stuff’s mission. What does that mean for you? It means that the products in our Literacy catalog are aligned to the structure and terms of the CCSS to help you match your federally funded purchases to the Standards. Each page offers you a look at the CCSS Strand and specific College and Career Readiness (CCR) Anchor Standards that the products on that page address. Under each product title related to the CCSS, is the red, italicized standard that is being addressed. You do not need to rely solely on the catalog to find the information, because the same great resource is now integrated into the ReallyGoodStuff.com. In addition to the renaming and redesign of the catalog, the launch of new products has also been a top priority. With over 70 NEW Really Good Literacy Centers now in our product line, you can find an activity that is perfect for every CCSS objective you have to teach. What about old favorites? We have organized them according to the new CCSS too, so that you can spend more time teaching and less time trying to figure out how products meet the standards you are tasked with teaching your students. If you have not seen the newest catalog, you can request one here. In the meantime, take a look at the brand new literacy products online that will make your life much easier. At Really Good Stuff, we are committed to helping teachers make a difference.

It will be interesting to see how the Common Core will change how we teach… Great idea to align your magazine to the Common Core as well!

I’m glad that you are aligning your products with the new common core. It will be nice to be able to find items to supplement our teaching that is already aligned to our curriculum.

Wonderful to have resources readily available and to be able to read up with other resources regarding the common core. I wonder how common it will be across our nation?

It will be great to have the common core standard connected to the products. I hope that you can somehow make the web-site searchable by the common core as well.
