Wet Their Whistles

Keep kids hydrated with this idea by Tanya, a 3rd Grade Teacher, from Punta Gorda, FL. Every summer, I make it my mission to find inexpensive, reusable water bottles for my students. I put the bottles in the “Welcome Back Bags” and place the bags on students’ desks, the night of Open House. Students love their bottles; they cut back on excessive trips to the water fountain and I never again have to listen to the crinkling noise of a student squeezing one of those grocery store plastic water bottles. |

Great idea!
For those who are crafty — this year I have spent my summer crocheting “bottle cozies” for those water bottles. Now, if students bring in bottles that are frozen or full of ice, it won’t melt all over the desk! You can also shop around for cheap ones!

I absolutely love this idea. Those crinkling noises of grocery store water bottles drives me crazy…I am going to be on the lookout for reuseable water bottles today!

Great idea! I though I was the only one who hated that crinkling noise!
Thanks for sharing!

I love this idea too! I also thought I was the only one who hated the crinkling water bottle noises! Any ideas on where to find inexpensive reusable bottles?

I LOVE this idea thanks. I’m forever telling the students that they should bring in a bottle. If I supply them for them at the start of the year then there are no excuses. Thanks!

This is a good idea. But I wonder, do your kids play with the waterbottles? When I was a substitute, I was in classes where the students were allowed to have bottles and it wasn’t the crinkling sound that bothered me, but rather it was the fact that they would constantly drink the water. Instead of learning and listening they would constantly drink and play with the bottles.

I love it! Yes the crinkling noises are annoying so this summer I am going on a hunt for water bottles.
