While spring is making a late start in many parts of the country, places like Florida are already seeing weather in the 90s. If you are looking for some fun and inexpensive spring activities to do with your family, we have plenty. Check out the five fun Spring activities for families below and soak up with fresh spring air with those you love.
5 Fun Spring Activities for Families
1. Nature Walk
Going for a walk in the woods or a park with your family costs nothing, but makes for a lot of fun. Slip on your rain boots, dress in mud-ready clothes, and take a jaunt through the woods. Be sure to bring along your camera to capture the spring blossoms and happy smiles.
2. Zoo
The local zoo, no matter how big or small, is probably celebrating spring in its own way. Warmer weather means more outdoor demonstrations and live animal shows, so be sure to check the schedule before you go. Many zoos are non-profit, so if you join as members the fee is usually tax deductible and you can go as often as you like.
3. Strawberry Picking
Late spring is the perfect time to head out into the strawberry fields with your family and pick your own delicious berries. Do an internet search for local farms in your area that offer such activities. During berry picking weekends, many farms also have cooking demonstrations, entertainment for children, and farm tours.
4. 5Ks and Fun Runs
Break out those running shoes and get the family in gear. Spring does not only bring about beautiful flowers and warmer weather, it also is the season for charity runs and walks. While your children may not be ready to run or walk a 5K, you can participate as a family in a Fun Run/Walk for the same healthy benefits.
5. Camping
Whether you stake a tent in your own backyard or camp out in the woods, camping together in the spring is a great way to start the outdoor season. Be prepared for rain and check weather forecasts before you go. If you are staying home to camp, use a backyard fire pit to toast the marshmallows for homemade s’mores!
