Class Letter Project
We like to celebrate the end of our year together in writing. I have my students write letters introducing themselves to their next year’s teachers. Students also write welcoming letters to the incoming 4th graders to put them at ease and let them know what to expect. I also invite students to write letters to me telling me what they learned, what they liked, and what they wished they could have experienced in my class.
I take to heart what my students tell me and use these letters when planning activities for the following year. We also celebrate with a class yearbook. I take pictures constantly during the school year. Each month, I display them for the students to see. I use these monthly display pages to create pages for our yearbook. I have each student contribute an autobiographical paragraph to the book so we all have memories of each other. On the last day of class, I allow students time to sign each other’s yearbooks.
