Last Minute Gift Ideas

The holidays are here! Do you know what you’re buying everyone? Chances are, if you are like most of us, you still some shopping to do! If you’re stuck for ideas, check out the 10 quick, and relatively inexpensive gift ideas below that are perfect for just about anyone on your holiday shopping list!

Last Minute Holiday Gift Ideas

1. Tea Lover

Nothing says, “I care about your relaxation” more than a pretty teapot filled with packets of tea bags. For about $20-$30, you can have this gift checked off your list in no time.

2. Mad About Music

Oh, the sweet joy of comfortable headphones. This year, eradicate the ear buds and choose a soft, cushioned pair of stylish headphones.

3. Exercise Nut

If your BFF is in love with her treadmill and uses exercise as an escape, make her trips around the invisible track more eco-friendly with a stainless steel water bottle. Not only are stainless steel bottles safer for her water, but they also come in a great variety of colors.

4. Great Gardener

There is always one person on your list who loves gardening. While the winter months may seem like the worst time to buy gardening supplies, for the gardener who starts her seeds indoors, it is the perfect time. Some small starter pots, packets of seeds, a fresh pair of gardening gloves and a new kneeling cushion are perfect gifts to enjoy throughout the year.

5. Coffee Lover

Ever try to talk to someone before they’ve had their first cup of coffee in the morning? It’s not pretty. Getting the coffee lover bags of specialty coffee in a new coffee mug is the perfect way to ensure that your friend or loved one is running at full speed before you strike up a conversation.

6. Green Living Guru

Have you ever planted a tree for someone? With the help of tree-planting programs from environmental agencies and parks – you can! It’s a great gift for the eco-conscious friend who has everything. Best of all, no wrapping is required!

7. Craft Queen

A dirty little secret about crafters is that they love to hoard supplies. If your crafting friend is into scrapbooking or jewelry making, paper or beads are going to be like precious jewels to them (I speak from experience!). An organizing container is also going to be a great addition to their crafting collection.

8. Say Cheese!

Wine and cheese that is! After a long week at school, what better way to celebrate the end of the week than a wine and cheese party with friends. Load up a big basket with a couple of bottles of wine, some fancy cheese, and some specialty crackers. Don’t forget to keep the wine and cheese refrigerated before giving them to your friend or your perfect gift may turn out to be a perfect disaster.

9. Office Supplies

For those non-teachers who are reading this, the thought of giving office supplies may never even have occurred to you. What teachers know, however, is that a new pack of Sharpie markers or some pretty metallic staples make us light up like a kid at, well, Christmas! We can never have too many neat pencils, cool pens or multi-colored markers.

10. Multi-Purpose Bags

Most women love bags. Big bags, little bags, and every bag size in between. Get the bag lady on your Christmas list a handmade, one of a kind bag this holiday. She can use it for grocery shopping, as a purse, to carry her lunch to work, to store her craft supplies, etc. And, if you put some fresh cut flowers in it, you can claim the bag is the wrapping!

When it’s this close to the holidays, you have to use your creativity when buying gifts. A standard pair of fleece gloves is not going to cut it for those nearest and dearest to you. After all, no matter how old you are, getting presents at the holidays is always fun – and giving them should be too!

I love #7. I am a PreK teacher and hoard cardboard among other things. Cardboard makes great stencils- you can create your own shapes in any size you need. An organizer would be so helpful to me for all of my scraps of felt, ribbon, wallpaper, buttons, ect. great gift!

I really like the wine and cheese party. A get together always helps bring closure to the quarter or half way mark of the school year!!! 🙂

This is a good article. Being a teacher, I can totally relate to suggestion #9! I love it when I get staples, paper clips, markers, etc. as a gift. This is something that I don’t always think to buy but can always be put to good use!
