Infusing seasonal items into the classroom is an easy way to relate learning to everyday life. With Easter on the horizon, plastic eggs are everywhere. With a Sharpie marker in hand, you can quickly and easily turn them into fun math manipulatives for centers. This is one center that can be completed in about 15 minutes!
Math Eggs
Materials Needed:
- Plastic eggs
- Sharpie marker
Directions:
1. Separate the plastic egg completely. If the top and bottom portions are connected, you may need to trim the small piece of plastic that connects the two. After the plastic is trimmed, put the egg back together.
2. On the small portion of the egg write the numbers one through 10, rotating the piece as you write.
3. On the large portion of the egg write the operation and the numbers one through 10. For example, if your students are practicing multiplication you might write x 1, x 2, x 3, and so on.
4. Place the completed eggs and blank answer sheets in a basket at a math center.
