Happy National Noodle Month!
That’s right, March is the official month to celebrate the noodle. According to Wikipedia, “A noodle is a type of food made from unleavened dough that is cooked in a boiling liquid.” Although noodles are most often associated with the Asian variety of unleavened dough, the term has crossed over into mainstream language to also include spaghetti and other pastas.
This month, celebrate with some fun craft activities below that will have your students, literally, using their noodles.
Noodle Month Crafts and Activities
- Send a Message (Primary) – A noodle craft that spells out how kids feel. Use noodles to spell out children’s name, a message home, or to practice spelling basic sight words.
- Noodle Fish (Preschool/Primary)- This fun activity combines science and math with the joy of art. Perfect for a unit study of Marcus Pfister’s, The Rainbow Fish, or when studying ocean creatures.
- Macaroni Skeleton (Intermediate)- What better way to connect the thigh bone to the hip bone than with macaroni! A great lesson to teach about bones and symmetry in the human body. (scroll down mid-way to see the activity)
