I’m planning ahead (or trying to at least!) and was wondering what costumes other teachers wear for Halloween?

I like to keep it simple and just wear a wig or a hat, that way it does’t get in the way of teaching all day.

We’ve had staff theme’s the last couple years. Last year we all dressed up like Where’s Waldo, the year before it was superheroes.

Fly Guy! (Or Fly Girl!) Made out of colored chart paper and cardboard (the backings of chart paper). I try to read some Fly Guy books during the month of October to get them excited while also studying a series!

Before the current Principal I have had many different costumes from theme to anything goes, I keep it with something the kids can relate to. They really like the Pumpkin outfit I got through oriental it was easy to wear also. Now we get around the no Halloween and have a “football party” to thank our football players for coming to “mentor us during the season it is usually close to homecoming. So we dress up in our favorite football outfits.

We always do a staff theme. Last few year’s costumes: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, football players, superheroes. All were easy to do with t-shirts or jerseys. We got the TMNT ones from Walmart with attached capes and eye masks from Party City. The kids love trying to figure out what we’re going to do each year!

I like to choose a favorite character from one of my read aloud. Since I rotate my read aloud each year, it gives a little more to choose from.
