What do you think are the most important skills to have before entering kindergarten?

I feel social and emotional skills are the most important skills for students to have before starting kindergarten!

Social-emotional skills, fine motor skills, listening skills, ability to follow directions, and ability to communicate needs to staff. One thing I have run across every year is that there are a few children who want to be first every time (first in line, first to get a book, first to share, first to be called on, etc.) I wish parents could help their children learn that we can’t always be first! LOL
